The Extron VSC 500 High Resolution Computer-to-Video Scan Converter combines high performance processing, features, and value. The VSC 500 accepts computer-video signals with resolution up to 1600x1200 and outputs a scan converted NTSC or PAL video signal as composite video, S-video, component video, and/or RGB video. Applications include videoconferencing, video recording, and viewing the images on a PAL or NTSC monitor or other display device. Key features include Auto-Image™ setup for automatic adjustment of centering, sizing, and filter settings; zoom control up to 200%; an LCD display for user-friendly menu navigation; memory presets; and a buffered loop-through for local monitor output. The VSC 500 can be controlled via the front panel, optional IR remote, or RS-232 and RS-422 serial commands.

  • — The VSC 500 has four vertical filter settings selectable through the front panel LCD navigation menus. Filters reduce jitter, improve image stability, and assure that minimal picture detail is dropped during scan conversion.

  • — A press of a button automatically adjusts the sizing, centering, and filtering to optimize the output image. This can save time and effort in fine tuning displayed images.

  • — The VSC 500 features variable zoom up to 200% to allow for panning across the screen. User-friendly positioning, including centering and sizing, is accessible through the front panel for quick and efficient image setup.

  • — Automatically recognizes and converts incoming computer-video signals at resolutions up to 1600x1200, horizontal scan rates up to 100 kHz, and vertical refresh rates up to 120 Hz.

  • — Eight zoom presets are available for recalling size, position, and filtering, accessible via the optional IR, RS-232, or RS-422. This feature enables the user to quickly zoom in on a certain area of an image.

  • — The output video of the VSC 500 can be frozen using the freeze button on the front panel. This feature allows the scan converter to capture a frame of video to display for an extended period of time, even after the source has been removed.

  • — The VSC 500 includes a color bar pattern for simplified set-up of a display. The color bar pattern or a black screen can be set as the default output when no input signal is present.

  • — Using serial commands, the VSC 500 can be controlled and configured via the Extron Windows®-based control program, or integrated into third-party control systems. Extron products use the SIS™ - Simple Instruction Set command protocol, a set of basic ASCII code commands that allow for quick and easy programming.

  • — Ideal for unsecured environments, this feature enables the user to lock out all front panel functions except for centering controls; all functions however, are available through RS-232 and RS-422 control.
